Mondays in Matthew

A course in Bible study methods applied to the Gospel of Matthew on Monday evenings, 19:45-21:30 at the Lighthouse

Course objective:

• Sharpen every participant’s ability accurately to observe and to interpret the Bible in order to draw legitimate and useful personal application from the text.

Expectations:

• Be committed to finishing the study project before each class session.  In general the study project will include a reading of the chapter under discussion and answering the first five observation questions.  The others we will work on in the class period through group discussion.
• Be prepared to interact in the classroom each Monday.  The instructor will guide a discovery process in the class sessions rather than spend the whole time in lecture.
• Do your best to attend each session you can.
• After each class find someone else whom you can tell about what you’ve learned.  This is an essential part of the learning and multiplication process about which Jesus Christ has commanded His Church in Matthew 28:19-20 and 2 Timothy 2:2 .
• Ask God to urge the other person to share what he/she has learned from you with yet someone else.
• Seek at least one way God wants you to change your thinking and acting in the light of what you learn.  Set a clear objective and follow through.
